After reading this book I felt like I had a solid foundation in the concepts surrounding dual-diagnosis and the diagnosis and treatment of co-occurring disorders. Furthermore, I formed a great understanding of common mental illnesses, addiction, and the latest empirical evidence for their etiology, diagnosis and treatment. Gourson writes with a conversational and personal tone without excluding the necessary vocabulary and scientific language for the field. Over all, this book is a great way to learn about addiction, mental illness, and most of all co-occurring disorder.
